Pantone Challenge

2015 Pantone Quilt Challenge: Marsala

Have you heard/read about the Pantone Quilt Challenge being hosted by Adrianne -On the Windy Side and Anne from Play Crafts?  Check it out if you haven't yet.  This year, I wasn't as excited about Marsala when it was announced as color of the year, but that only brings the challenge aspect to the forefront.

I don't typically design my quilts from scratch - I tend to tweak patterns or tutorials instead.  However, I've been searching through my Pinterest boards and playing with the sketch pad and got inspired.  So this weekend my quilt entry started taking shape and I'm pretty excited about it.  Here's a sneaky peek!

Surprise!

Haha, not only do you get a post  - it's my February Finish post for ALYOF!

My goal was to put the binding on the face quilt and I claim success.  It was pretty quick work once I sat down to the machine.  With a small quilt, I opted to machine stitch the binding and used a bright green Aurifil thread to compliment the eyes.  ;)

PS - the Quilt Stats
Name: Surprise!
Size: 20" x 20"

Linking up at Fiber of All Sorts for February. I can also check this off my Finish-Along Q1 list and linked up at On the Windy Side.

Sunday snapshot #23

Today was mostly overcast and while I hoped for a rain storm that didn't come, it was still a good day.  Temps have been in the 60s this weekend making walks outside much easier.  Today I worked on my Feb. block to mail out for the Bakers Dozen Swap I'm in via Facebook.  Each month we make a block and send it to one of the people in the group - the only rule is it must be a 12" block finished and you gotta sign it.  I'm using this chance to try out some new things.

This month I was itching to make a polaroid block and love how it turned out - will definitely need to make some of these to keep.  ;)  While a bit more on the time consuming side, it made use of a lot of scraps.

February Fun

Today I'm linking up my project for February's ALYOF finish at Fiber of All Sorts.  I'm working off of my WIP & Finish-Along list and choosing to bind my face quilt.  This was a sample I made for my Junior Quilters group last Summer/Fall.  It's quilted already and I have binding fabric ready to go so hopefully this will be a quick finish.

I was away on quilt retreat last weekend so stay tuned for more on that - new projects and all.  :)
