Sunday Snapshot #20

Today was glorious!  Some warm weather to break up all the cold, catch up with a good friend, walking around downtown/lowertown and gorgeous sunsets!

retreat! retreat!

It's almost time for Quilt Retreat again and I've been gathering fabric, patterns and quilty bits together.  I've got several new projects in the works and while making my list I decided this is the year of the Pre-Cut in my sewing!  Each project involves a different type of pre-cut and I can't wait to break open these pretty bundles.  :)
#1 - test layout postage stamp

Project #1 - Postage Stamp quilt
I'll be using a good number of the mini charm packs I've collected pair with Kona Glacier.  It'll be fun to mix all the different lines together.  Also, I won't have to cut hundreds of little squares myself to make a patchwork quilt! (win!)
all my mini charms!

Project #2 - Twister
Actually I've already started this one - couldn't resist!  It uses a charm pack of High Street and the Twister ruler.  Super excited about this one - just need to get some border fabric and I'll be ready to go twisting again.

Project #3 - Get a Clue!
A mash-up of P.S. I quilt's Impromptu pattern & a layer cake of the Nancy Drew fabric line & Kona Shadow as the background fabric.  I plan to make 2 lap sized quilts and gift one to a friend who loves to read.  (pix to come)

Project #4 - Hexies
A fun little project to try my hand at Y-seams again.  The first go round with these didn't work too well, but I've learned a lot since then so I'm hoping it will be easier this time.  I've got a Honeycomb of Happy-Go-Lucky and matching solids.  (pix to come)

Project #5 - GS Quilt
Already a quilt top, this is on the list because it uses a Jelly Roll of Girl Scout fabric.  I told you it was the year of the pre-cut! (remember this?)

Linking up with WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced.  Lots going on over here so stay tuned for more!

A Lovely Year of FinishesMy January goal was to finish up some zipper bags to bring along with me.  I finished them up this weekend and wish I could keep them all!  Aren't they fun?

I'm linking up this finish over at Fiber of All Sorts for the Lovely Year of Finishes 2014 goal.
This is also a finish from my Q1 list for the Finish A Long at the Littlest Thistle - #223!

Pink Is : Entry

Rachel over at Stitched in Color is hosting another mosaic contest - go check it out and then come back here!  I love these contests because it's so much fun to play with fabric swatches with a specific theme.
This time it's Pink!
Pink sends my thoughts towards Funny Face (think pink!), ballerinas, pink sunsets tinged in deep blues, bright summer days with bubblegum and playing for pinks (Grease anyone?) - what do you think, when you think pink?

So here are my two entries for the Pink contest:

Entry #1 :: Geek in the Pink
I wanted to go edgy & classic with just pink & black and threw in some fun geeky details. (#84 in the mosaic linky)

Entry #2 :: Pinkalicious
This one's all about pink and celebrating the fun of the color! (#85 in the mosaic linky)

Q1 of 2014 - here I go!

It's exciting to see that there is a new host for the 2014 Finish A Long - Katy over at The Littlest Thistle! I made good progress in finishing up some lingering quilt tops last year and look forward to continuing that momentum this year too.
Finish Along 2014

I'll be linking up my First Quarter list so here we go for the year:

1. Challenge Quilt
A hold over from my Q4 list last year and >< this close to being finished.  All it needs is binding so I'm determined to have this one complete first.

2. Zipper bags
Momm & I started these in the Fall and I have the second round of them to finish up.  These are Wide Mouth bags using the tutorial from Noodlehead.

3.  Improv Play
I took a class at work with Denyse Schmidt and created this top.  I'm excited to see how it will turn out once quilted!

4.  Swoon
Back again on the list - but I'd really love to have this one quilted by my birthday at the end of the quarter.  Adding it to the list helps get me motivated to baste and decide on quilting designs.

January link ups

Happy Year!   I've got some holiday recaps coming soon.  This whole back to work thing this week has thrown me off a bit - I'm trying to get back into my schedule and alarm clocks and it's been slow going so far.  Meanwhile, we had a brief snow flurry tonight which was gorgeous!  I love how still and silent it gets during a snowfall.
A Lovely Year of Finishes
As I get back into work I'm also getting together my quilting goals for 2014 and first up is joining in for A Lovely Year of Finishes 2014!  I've got some zipper bags to finish up this month as my project. It shouldn't take too long as they are halfway started as you can see.

Linking up for the start of a good quilting year at Fiber of All Sorts and looking forward to finishing up more projects.
