Thank You Bags

I made these two bags as thank you gifts for a couple of my coworkers. This was my OMG project for January (read more here) and they are also on my Q1 list for the Finish Along 2016.  It's nice to start out with an early finish w/a purpose.
2016 FAL

A drawstring bag for L in batiks -her current fave. While purple is 'her' color, I was looking to get away from that at first and try something different. Of course, I then found this perfect fabric and I just went with that! Q1 FAL link post bag 1 found here.

Zipper bag for the other L - a new to me way of making it which turned out fairly simple to do. I chose something I thought she'd like and ta-da! Q1 FAL link bag 2 is here.

FAL Q1 2016-style

I've participated in the Finish Along since 2013 and am looking forward to joining in again this year as well. I like the extra bit of motivation that comes from posting my list here in the blog-i-verse.  :)

Thought I'd start out big - I never know where inspiration will hit and it's fun to have options. It's exciting to see how much the Finish Along has grown over the years and how great to have so many host blogs for the linkups!

I'll be linking up my 2016 Quarter 1 list over at Slo Studio before heading off to get stitching.

2016 FAL

Big Bear Quilt - Top is complete, needs backing, quilting & binding. He also needs a good name!

Disco - Currently basted, needs quilting & binding.

Science Fair - Currently basted, needs quilting & binding.

Charm Stamps - Block complete and ready to sew together into a Top.

Table Topper - I've got a hexagonal end table and plan to make a block from the Park Bench pattern book. Fabric pulled - though there will need to be edits!

gift bag #1 - drawstring bag for a coworker as a thank you gift. Fabric pulled, pieces cut and ready to make!

gift bag #2 - zipper pouch for a coworker as a thank you gift. Last sides need to be stitched up!

Gala quilt - It's our 25th anniversary year at work and we're having a staff challenge with the theme: Gala of the Unexpected.  We're limited to 18"/side for these, so it shouldn't be too difficult in that regard. I'm planning to use zippers for this one - all. the. zippers!

Marsala quilt - Top is complete, needs backing, quilting & binding.

Girl Scout quilt - Top complete, but needs to be edited, which will involve much seam ripping.  Needs backing, quilting & binding. This one is back on the FAL list again because it motivates me to work on it!

Jan OMG project

RedLetterQuilts
I was Ecstatic to go see the new Star Wars for free (read more here!) with a couple of my coworkers and want to say thank you to them both. As these are thank yous, I don't want to drag out the gifting so I'm planning to make them this weekend.

Decided to make some small bags from my stash fabrics for the gifts. I'm still choosing fabrics for the bags, but I'll be making a lined drawstring bag like this for at least one, if not both, of them. It'll be fun choosing fabrics to go with their personalities!

I'll be linking up for the inaugural One Monthly Goal at Red Letter Quilts.  Thx momm for the heads up on this new link-up/blog!

A Lovely Year of Finishes Indeed!

It's been a wonderful year working towards finishing projects and quilts with the motivation of this fun link-up hosted by Fiber of All Sorts & Sew Bittersweet Designs. Breaking some of these WIPs into smaller goals really keeps the progress in motion amongst all the business of work and life. I've been linking up with A Lovely Year of Finishes since 2013 and will be sad to see it go. I'm hoping to continue achieving goals and finishing projects for this upcoming year!

Linking up today at Fiber of All Sorts for the 2015 Finale link-up! I managed to finished 10 of my 11 proposed goals during 2015. I didn't realize until making the mosaic, that about half of these were gifted to friends - a finish is even better when you can share it with someone else.

January: Zip bags for gifting
February: Binding my face quilt
March: Bind Vibrato
May: Box bags for graduation gifts
June: finishing Jungle Jam baby quilt to gift
August: piecing the quilt top
September: binding the Tour De France quilt
October: quilting the surprise baby quilt
November: Making the top for the last Star Wars gift quilt
December: finishing the star wars quilts
